Oppressive heat compels the hostess to abandon her birthday garden party for the comforts of home. My designer’s eye gathers pale coreopsis, blushing nigella pods, scented lavender and preening double snapdragons. These stems are captured in tiny turquoise bottles unearthed from a a cache long hidden in a corners of 19th century back yards. Seated at this table, these blooms appear to have risen and dispersed from the low aqua dishbefore me, a garden fountain! Ebullient conversations, flit about this long glowing table, as I take in this convivial social scene. I am transported to my garden, my eyes darting all around seeking the ever shifting luminous constellations of fireflies floating on the gentle breezes. A feeling warmth and joy swells in my heart.
